Abigail Wilensky, Maestro di Cappella

Abigail WilenskyAbigail Wilensky has had extensive experience performing and enjoying many types of music. In the classical field, she has performed in symphony orchestras, operas, chamber groups and as a soloist in Memphis, Nashville, Cleveland, New York City, and the Rogue Valley. She has also been a member of a variety of bands, playing folk, rock, and fiddle, and has played in orchestras supporting larger acts, such as the Foo Fighters, Dennis DeYoung of Styx, and Ruby Wilson. In 2018 and 2019, she performed in the pit with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s productions of Oklahoma! and Hairspray. In the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon, she has served as Concertmaster, Associate Concertmaster and/or soloist with the following groups: Rogue Valley Symphony, Southern Oregon Repertory Singers, Jefferson Baroque Orchestra, Rogue Valley Chorale. In 2021, she joined the North State Symphony in Redding and Chico, CA. Most recently, she has joined the Ashland based World Music band Malinka, as a vocalist and violinist.

Chamber music is an equal passion of Abigail’s. She has helped organize several service concerts in the Rogue Valley to bring awareness to current social issues, and participated in the National Association of Composer’s USA Southern Oregon Chapter’s annual new music concert in the Spring of 2023. She is hoping to continue to bring high level chamber music performances to the Valley along with other amazing musical colleagues who call the Rogue Valley home.

In addition to performing, Abigail holds a Masters Degree in Suzuki Pedagogy and Violin Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, and maintains a large violin and viola studio. The Suzuki Method holds children in the highest regard, and as a Suzuki teacher, she is dedicated to helping each one of her students access their deeper strength and abilities through the discipline of learning a musical instrument.

Abigail has been living in the beautiful Rogue Valley since 2014, and loving the people, pace of life, and endless peace and beauty found in the land.
