“Messiah”
December 7 & 8
If you attended one of these sold out concerts, we could love to hear from you about what you liked, what could have been better, and and any suggestions for future concerts.
A beloved holiday tradition, Handel’s “Messiah” returns to the JBO in its 31st season, led from the harpsichord by JBO’s Music Director Dr. Abigail Mace, a Baroque specialist. Christmas selections from Messiah, with Baroque orchestra and choir, form the centerpiece of the performance, featuring local vocal soloists Jennifer Matsuura, Lindsay Kuzmitz, Shelly Cox-Thornhill, Phil Koenig, Holden Cook and Philip Engdahl.
To open the concert, audiences will be treated to Handel’s glorious Coronation Anthem No. 2, “Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened.”
At the conclusion of the concert, join with the choir in singing the “Hallelujah” chorus — the perfect way to start the Christmas season! Here’s a copy of Hallelujah chorus music to bring with you.
